LATA is offers support, primarily in form of scholarships, to worthy Latino students in San Francisco. We also promote bilingual education and advocate for equity for all students, teachers and families in the public school systmem, especially in the Latino community, through college fairs, family conferences, and teacher events.

Create a Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT):You can donate property, stocks, or funds from the sale of your home to the CRT. You will be paying taxes only on the amount you use, but not on anything held in Trust or donated to a nonprofit, such as LATA. Use the info above to include LATA

Our yearly scholarships are up to $38,000 distributed among 14 students (in 2014).

Mexican School Project

LATA is pleased to announce a new project. Our long-time board member, Ray Ponce, has adopted two schools in Yucatan, Mexico. The first is in Tebec named Nachi Cocom and the second is a Special Education school named Turno Matutino in Valladolid. LATA is supporting his important work.

YOU CAN HELP by making a monetary donation or donating books, worksheets, and other educational supplies and resources in Spanish or English. All donations go directly to the schools. Our administrative staff is all volunteer.

Mission Education Center Academic Scholarship

Teachers at MEC have established a scholarship for high school seniors who attended MEC. The teachers are generously raising and donating funds and participating in the selection process. They are committed to celebrating and encouraging the perseverance and excellence of their prior students.

Long-time member and MEC teacher, Mario Chang, is leading the effort as he approaches the end of his career in SFUSD.
