The San Francisco Association for Bilingual Education is the local chapter of the statewide organization, CABE, which promotes quality bilingual education students through advocacy and professional development. We support diverse cultural, racial, and linguistic backgrounds and we honor living in a rich multicultural, global society. Our vision is: Biliteracy, Multicultural Competency & Educational Equity for All.
The Association of Chinese Teachers is a professional an organization striving for educational excellence and equity for all students. TACT has been instrumental in shaping policy in the areas of affirmative action, bilingual education, cross-cultural curriculum, and teachers’ issues.
Teachers 4 Social Justice is a grassroots teacher support and development organization in San Francisco. Their mission is to provide opportunities for self-transformation, leadership, and community building to educators in order to affect meaningful change in the classroom, school, community and society.
Rethinking Schools: is the preeminent publisher of social justice education materials in the US, which publish a magazine as well as books and education programs including: the Zinn Education Project — coordinated with Teaching for Change. (rethinking schools.org)
El Tecolote: is a free bilingual, biweekly newspaper and also a daily online publication based in San Francisco that covers the Mission District and the surrounding area for the Latino community. (eltecolote.org)
Accion Latina mission is to promote cultural arts, community media and civic engagement as a way of building healthy and empowered Latino communities.
Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts is a multicultural, multidisciplinary arts organization committed to the collaborative artistic vision of the Latino art forms to provide the community with an arena in which to develop new artistic skills, as well as support local and established artists that serve their community.
